A One MAN show for the man from Manchester
Picture this. A top flight club, Manchester united are
closer to the teams in relegation than they are to the top. In recent times
this would actually sound pretty normal because the team hasn’t been up to the
mark since maybe Zlatan’s first season. But even that, to Manchester true
standards aren’t the best. A team with all the glory and all the history are
looking to be a mid-table team. A new manager, new defensive anchor and still
the same results.
Even though Manchester had the talent of some truly great
attackers and some good defenders they couldn’t showcase it. However, there
came a saving grace in the form of their January signing, the second coming of
Ronaldo? The milkman himself, Bruno Fernandes. This wasn’t a surprise signing
as united were trying to acquire his services before the season had even begun.
But you would question the front office after seeing his effect as to why they
didn’t push hard to get the deal done in the first place.
In the end though, he did get there, and just like god
himself, this man single handedly resurrected Manchester’s attack. This team
managed to qualify for champions league football and finish top 3 in one of the
hardest leagues in the world. Yes, Covid-19 shutting down the league and
leister losing very important players to injuries might have helped their cause
but if they would’ve followed the trend they were in, before Bruno’s arrival,
they would probably be in the same boat as Arsenal, and no one wants that.
This now gives united a sign of life, if they manage to make
key signings to bolster their defence and solidify their attack like Sancho and
Koulabali, they could have a realistic chance to compete for a major title or
maybe both. So, despite the horrendous start, All’s well that ends well?
