BLACK LIVES MATTER
We all have heard the stories of those 3 individuals, but why hasn't it brought about any real change. People have brought about the awareness and have given solutions to these problems yet every week we see something even more disturbing than before. Breonna Taylor, shot 8 times in her own home in the middle of the night for doing nothing except living her life. George Floyd, a man who was willing to comply and begged for mercy overpowered by a man putting his knee on his neck for 8 plus minutes. Jacob Blake, who was shot five times in his back, in front of his child, just because they thought he was going to reach for a gun. Punishments so inhumane that even wild animals would not receive. Yet a white man shooting and killing people who partook in Jacob Blake protests was let to slide and given his legal due diligence.
A black man or woman or child are still human beings. They are like all of us but they're treated different. We live in India so we don't see this happening around us, but we hear the stories and they seem like nightmares to us. We see our people fight other people over religion and race but never see peace between them. We are living in the golden age of black excellence, where we all look up to these individuals and see how capable they are of bringing change in the world in any field yet some seem to forget this when its the most important.
Some law officials, who get drunk with power use their opportunity to oppress people of color and be able to get away with it. But not anymore. Actions have consequences and people deserve justice. Its 2020 and people are finally coming together and standing up together.
I shouldn't spend time telling you why racism is bad because any person can see what is happening is wrong. People have been fighting for this for years and all they're fighting for is equal opportunity and equal treatment. Be it man or woman or black or white or even Hindu or Muslim, we just need to stop this hate and start being together as one. And when we do it, we don't do it for any personal gain but for growth in our society and for our future.
I haven't physically witnessed being harassed for being different but I wouldn't want to experience that or wish anyone ever had to witness that. So let's bring such strong awareness that it brings actual change, not just in law but help strengthen the morality of individuals in the future.
