THE BUBBLE WARRIORS
Now, in the East, it has been a poor showing by the wizards who have managed to drop to the 11th seed even though they were the only Eastern team there to compete for the 8th seed. Yes, they didn't have Beal but Nets didn't have Kyrie and the other players started to step up and ensure they should be in the playoff picture. Also, the Pelicans who were the favorite to make the 8th seed because of they were catching fire before play got stopped, they stunk up the place so hard with their rotations. Having their best player play only 15 minutes, they were destined to be where they were, even though they had the easiest schedule. Spurs, who did find life in the bubble realized it wasn't enough because of how well the other teams above them in the seeding played, thus ending their long lasting play off streak. But, the one team, that didn't make the play in tournament but won everyone's hearts, THE PHEONIX SUNS.
Sometimes, when people expect nothing from you, anything you do would surprise them. Everyone predicted the suns to go 0-8 and many said there was no use of them entering the bubble at all. Yes, at the time, a lot of their opinions were justified. The Suns are a young and inexperienced team who even though led by All-Star Devin Booker, it has never resulted to any wins. Also they were more notably known for " TANKING " rather than making the playoffs. They did have a good regular season by their standards, but their standards weren't that high, however promising.
They did however defy all odds and went 8-0 and with this performance definitely got a lot more people rooting for them. Devin Booker played out of his mind and he would be co-MVP of the bubble with Damian. Not only did they win, but they put up entertaining games to watch. With all the monster scoring games to the beautiful buzzer beater against the clippers they did everything to win over fans. Even though they played better than Memphis, Memphis did have the upper hand getting into the bubble. All they needed was 2 wins and they did exactly that in the most dramatic way possible and on the literal last day.
People would argue how the better team should be able to compete for the playoffs but you have be to good throughout the year and I respect that longevity and consistency be rewarded but I would love to see Devin finally make the playoffs.
They can let this heartbreak go but build up on this success. They should be able to take a step forward by strengthening their team through trades and free agency during off season. Try to get Devin a bit more help and start the next season with the sole purpose of making the playoffs. At least, this will give Suns fans some reassurance, who were worried about Devin asking for a trade if they would've not made any changes or shown any signs of success.
Now, let's not dwell on the past and get ready for the NBA playoffs.
