The Parisian Triumph

Paris, the fashion capital of the world, the most romantic place on earth, the essence of the beauty of France all captured in a city. A city so famous and so boujee that it could be regarded as the best place on earth, trust me I've been there, its amazing. Also France, the current World Champions in the world of football and with them having Football as their national sport, one would assume that French football is the creme de la creme of the world of sports. But its not, not even close. Some consider it so below average that it has been called "The Farmers League" by many football pundits. The French players are someone that every team craves to have, the French league however, not as sought after.

Paris Saint-Germain, a team with a rich domestic history but no international cup dominance. They have always been better than all the other Ligue 1 teams, winning all the domestic titles in sight. But have never made a champions league finals and even semi's were hard out of reach. With the extremely rich owners, it wasn't the quality of players that they were lacking, it was always just a series of bad luck and underperforming superstars. The club does boast their share of superstars like Ronaldinho and Ibrahimovic but now, with their most recent and most expensive purchases is where they managed to strike GOLD.

Neymar Jr. and Mbappe, those two together already create the most lethal attack in the world, and to that you add Angel Di Maria who is having a pretty good season really helped them get far into this year's champions league. They also managed to get lucky with having a comparatively easy side of the bracket. All this luck coupled with their talent helped them to end their drought and finally make a champions league final.

As expected, they managed to get out of the group stage and began their knockouts playing Dortmund and their young and lethal striker Haaland. The managed to get rid of them because of the luxury of the 2 game fixture, after which the epidemic took over the world that changed the whole format of this league. During the lockdown the fixtures were set up in such a way that PSG were favorites to make the finals as they didn't have any really big teams to play, staying away from teams like Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

In the quarter finals, they faced an Atlanta team that had really been thriving since the restart and they ensured that they challenged the French champions who managed to sneak a win in injury time. They showed how much they needed Mbappe and Di Maria in their attack. But they didn't manage to go through unscathed, losing Navas for the semis to a hamstring injury.

In the semis they played a serious underdog in Leipzig who they managed to take care of in very easy fashion and now they find themselves a spot in the champions league final in Lisbon. However they are still miles away from winning a title.

Because of this rare case of the virus, PSG has lost a lot of depth to their team with contracts ending before the season technically ends like Meunier and Cavani, but nothing too bad. However, they don't have the strong defense that a Champions League winner would need. They are most likely going to face Bayern who have been extremely dominant with no real weaknesses.

This is however the best opportunity for Neymar to prove to the world that his move to PSG from Barcelona was warranted. And if PSG do win the champions league, Mbappe will have even more silverware to prove that he could end up being the greatest player of all time, when it's all said and done. It would even be the perfect goodbye for club legend Thiago Silva, who isn't going to get a contract renewal due to his age.

But all this is still a fantasy and something every Paris fan would love to see. However, for now, let's just celebrate this victory and scream at the top of our lungs,
" ICI C'EST PARIS."
