BLACK LIVES MATTER

George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and now Jacob Blake, names that just scratch the surface of a problem so dire and so morally wrong yet not being given the proper attention it needs.  Racism, a word that means being treated differently because of the color of your skin. something you can't and will never be able to control. What I just mentioned to you is not top secret information, yet people still feel they can turn a blind eye to it. There is discrimination everywhere, but in the US it has been given the time of day, where the whole world gets to hear and see the mistreatment of people for being different.  We all have heard the stories of those 3 individuals, but why hasn't it brought about any real change. People have brought about the awareness and have given solutions to these problems yet every week we see something even more disturbing than before. Breonna Taylor, shot 8 times in her own home in the middle of the night for doing nothing except living her life. Georg...

The reach of a legend

In recent history, no one has seen a year as bad as 2020. We always feel we've had a bad year, but this year has been bad for all because we all went through more or less the same things, and it was hard. But here we are, 8 months in and some of us still haven't recovered from things happened in January, let alone everything happened since then. However, once we get through this, and get to the other side of this dark, long tunnel of despair, we'll come out stronger and with a new appreciation for our life and loved ones.  Today is the 24th of August. A day, that might not mean anything to many, but to me and many other Laker Ultras and just basketball fans, it is a special day. When Kobe Bean Bryant finally decided to call it a career and finally hang up his boots, just hours after he dropped a 60 piece in a win against the Jazz. A REAL KILLER. Because of all he had done for the city of Los Angeles and basketball, the city of LA paid him back by making 24/8 as Kobe day. 1 ...

Basic Koalafications ( A NEW SERIES ) #1

Image
I have found it so hard to find stuff interesting enough for me to cover. There is no drama, no controversy, nothing that is not political that I feel the need to take interest over. Even the meme platform is pretty dead. Sports is booming but I'm not BR or ESPN who report only news segments, I want to flex my creativity on this platform, hence this series. I have tried my best to write my pieces with a lot of factual content and less emotions and opinions involved but in this series you will get an opportunity to know me as a person and I promise to always " keep it a hundred " with you all.  This series in essence, is an expansion of idea based concept but a little bit more deeper than needed. Maybe you are one looking for a motto to live by or maybe you are a student who is trying to complete their English assignment, don't worry, we cater to all audiences. The proverb for today is something my dad says he lives by and I can see why. He was always in very difficul...

The Parisian Triumph

Image
Paris, the fashion capital of the world, the most romantic place on earth, the essence of the beauty of France all captured in a city. A city so famous and so boujee that it could be regarded as the best place on earth, trust me I've been there, its amazing. Also France, the current World Champions in the world of football and with them having Football as their national sport, one would assume that French football is the creme de la creme of the world of sports. But its not, not even close. Some consider it so below average that it has been called "The Farmers League" by many football pundits. The French players are someone that every team craves to have, the French league however, not as sought after.  Paris Saint-Germain, a team with a rich domestic history but no international cup dominance. They have always been better than all the other Ligue 1 teams, winning all the domestic titles in sight. But have never made a champions league finals and even semi's were hard...

Sidemen Sunday Best

Image
I made this blog to flex the knowledge I have in many different fields and genres. But maybe I have been getting a bit too repetitive for my liking, so I now want to showcase my knowledge in YouTube/Influencer field. I spend hours on the app, so I have my share of knowledge in this regard. I don't write blogs based on what I feel but I would be lying if I told you that the Sidemen weren't my all time favorite content creators and they have been for years. I am not going to deep dive into each of the sidemen and their history and what not, you could read that on other sites or even their book. I'm here to tell you all about how the Sidemen have revolutionized the entertainment-sphere with the Sidemen Sundays.  Just for the people who were wondering. The Sidemen are a group of 7 UK based YouTubers who came together to create content on a single group channel. They each have a minimum of 4 million subscribers on their own channels and got their fame from the gaming scene and ...

THE BUBBLE WARRIORS

Image
And with the final buzzer sounding today, ended the hopes of many teams who came into the bubble to try and make a playoff spot or at least try and make the play in. Yes, I'm talking about the NBA season that had resumed in a bubble, and I know there is still one more day of regular season games left but they don't affect the race for the 8th seed in either conference. Now, in the East, it has been a poor showing by the wizards who have managed to drop to the 11th seed even though they were the only Eastern team there to compete for the 8th seed. Yes, they didn't have Beal but Nets didn't have Kyrie and the other players started to step up and ensure they should be in the playoff picture. Also, the Pelicans who were the favorite to make the 8th seed because of they were catching fire before play got stopped, they stunk up the place so hard with their rotations. Having their best player play only 15 minutes, they were destined to be where they were, even though they ha...

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl ( A Review)

Image
I'm back and with me I bring another review. This time its a BOLLYWOOD MOVIE review. Now, I am from India so watching a Bollywood movie shouldn't be that big of a deal. I am not an avid viewer of the Indian cinema but I do enjoy one, now and again. But that's not the surprising part, the surprising part is that unlike everyone else in the world, I did not spend my quarantine completing the Netflix catalog, on the contrary I haven't been able to watch a single new TV series or a movie. I did try but I couldn't make it past the title sequence before I would turn off my TV or leave the room. But this movie, for some reason did catch my attention and better yet, retain it.   If you check the reviews given by IMDB and google users, I feel like it is quite a bit underappreciated. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this movie is like an instant classic or a defining movie but its certainly a great watch. It is biopic, which is basically supposed to be a movie ab...

Fall Guys : The Review

Image
In a world where gaming companies spend more and more time and money every year to make games with great gameplay and game graphics and deep storylines and hard challenges to ensure people buy their games and have fun, a game which looks so basic is taking over the world.  Fall guys is a battle royal game mode where the battle takes place in the form of challenges and courses that differ in difficulty depending on how many players remain. It includes single player as well as team challenges, however at the end only one winner is crowned. It came out just a week back but because of its simplicity and fun factor, it is the most hyped game for this month.  Recently, the gaming world has really given a lot of importance to battle royal games which depends on how good you are at a game rather than how much money you put into the game. The pay to win era is coming to an end and the skill is being rewarded. This game follows that principle very strongly. The game retails for a...

Is Kylie cancelled?

Image
Yes, on this here blog, we also cover entertainment news, because news is news. And as today is Kylie Jenner's birthday, I couldn't think of a better opportunity than now to shine some light on the current backlash she's been receiving. Let's start simple. What is cancel culture? Cancel culture in its basic essence is like the old age boycott that people used to do to overthrow their opposition. But in cancelling an individual or an entity, one ensures that person or entity receives so much online hate that they lose opportunities and brand deals or anything that can help them and also have them be exiled. I know right, sounds extreme. It can sometimes be justified when someone of high power or profile can say or do something wrong or unjust without having to face any consequences. But sometimes it can be absurd for things someone has done years back or something unintentional. Like everything, because people know they have the power the ensure they misuse it or be unju...

City And OL live to fight another day

Image
The League of Champions is back and it came bearing gifts. Well gifts to Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais and coal for Real and Juve.  The most important competition in club football came back with a bang and reminding us why this league is so loved. Between Ronaldo's screamer and Varane being haunted by the ghost of David Luiz where should I even begin. Let's start with Manchester City vs Real Madrid. Coming into the game, City was leading 2-1 on aggregate, having scored 2 away goals. All City needed was to either draw or at most 1-0 defeat. However, Varane surely made it easy for them. I am not going to be one of those people who will change their opinion on a player based on one game. Varane is an exceptional defender and a world cup winner for a reason. But last night was not his night. It showed how important Ramos's leadership was to that team and how he is an anchor defensively. Also, HOW GREAT HAS GABRIEL JESUS BEEN? It's so unfortunate that he is the back...

A Review on Trifo Ironpie M6+

Image
To showcase even more versatility on this blog and my writing prowess today I am going to be giving a review on the Trifo Ironpie M6+ available on amazon and probably other places. It is in its essence a vacuum cleaner which works on it's own so as to take out the human effort element from the picture. It can also be used for washing floors due to its water tank and cleaning attachment. It retails for Rs. 29,900 as of 7th August 2020 on Amazon. This going to be a long review so if you want a quick answer I would say buy it if you have the extra money or if you really hate cleaning by yourself, regardless you will still have to give it your attention and monitor it. Here we are, in the future, a robot vacuum cleaner that can detect its path and clean everything in sight. Until one day it decided to use its powers for evil, wait no this is a review not the start to a transformer movie. Anyway, on its premise its probably revolutionary. It can clean and wash any surface it is put on. ...

IS EDUCATION IN INDIA GOOD?

Image
I get this could be a controversial topic but its a topic I want to give attention and hopefully get attention to. For context I am a student studying in Mumbai under the State Board and I have just completed my admission for FYBA in Journalism and Mass Communication.  So let's get into dissecting this question. What does one think education or being educated mean? John Comenius was a Czech philosopher who is considered as the father of modern education. H e led schools and advised governments across Protestant Europe through the middle of the seventeenth century. It wouldn't take a genius to realize that he knows his stuff, especially in this field. He says  ''All who are born as human beings need education because they are destined to be real men, not wild beasts all animals and clumps of words." Funnily enough, in India it is known to excel in state board level education you need to " BE A PARROT ". An animal only known for their characteristic of bein...

Will FIFA 21 and NBA2k21 revive their respective communities?

Image
Yes, let's get the obvious out of the way. There are more games that have communities who want them to issue a change but I can't speak for them. What I can do is talk about the games I do actually play and can understand and relate with their communities and what they want. Both these games are supposed to be simulation games, which give you the feeling of being a part of them and give them control over their favorite players and franchise. It's also a place where one could make absurd things realistic or as close as you can get to realism like playing current stars with great players who are probably not even with us anymore. However, they also have an arcade mode i.e. FUT and MyTeam. This is where these companies make most of their profits because you can either grind the game or pay to win, and that's exactly where the companies try to veer their games. The realistic part of the game doesn't make money and hence their overlooked. Let's look at their problems...

Image
And here we are. Back to the top, exactly where we belong. Okay wait, let me clear the confusion that I, myself have created. I, Joshua Miranda, the author of this blog am probably the biggest and most loyal Laker fan you'll ever find. Like literally. Today's blog post will be a bit different because today I am going to put more feelings into words than facts. Living in India, basketball was not a real well known sport. We knew it existed and some knew how to play but the NBA was still a very less known commodity. I started playing basketball because I literally lived right next to, probably the best basketball court that available. I promise, I'm not going to deep dive into my life but the point of me narrating my life story is that the first time I seen NBA footage was an NBA top 10 plays of the night on YouTube or something like that. And the only play that actually caught my eye was an ally oop pass from out of bounds. I think it was from Kobe to Earl Clark, and I was l...

The rebirth of Iron Mike

Image
What a time to be alive if you're a boxing fan and have only heard of legendary tales of world-class fighters like Ali and Sugar Ray, but never got so witness their dominance in the ring. Because THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE GETTING. Well, erm, not exactly but pretty close. Recently, Iron Mike himself Mike Tyson announced that he's starting a legends only league for some of the greatest retired boxers. It's kind of like the Big-3 league which was started by Ice Cube for retired NBA players who weren't ready to hang up the boots yet. And to top that, it's inauguration is going to be headlined by an 8-round exhibition between Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson on 12th September 2020. Yes, I said Mike Tyson Vs Roy Jones Jr. and 2020 in the same sentence. This year has been truly weird. The boxing world, to be fair, did have a lot of great fights upcoming like the biggest Heavyweight fight in recent memory of Anthony Joshua against Tyson Fury, which would answer the ques...

Tik-Tok and the show stops

Image
And Just like than another one joins the heaven for apps that were once really important. Just yesterday the U.S.A. has joined India in banning the Chinese owned app amid speculation of privacy concerns. But the reason why it's more important news now because the biggest Tik-Tok creators were Americans, like Charli and Dixie D'amelio, Addison Rae and even pop stars like Jason Durelo.  What is Tik-Tok? If you don't exactly know what Tik-Tok is here is a quick summary: It is video sharing application which allows content creators to make (usually) 15 seconds worth of content ranging from Dances to Comedy to lip-syncs and a whole lot more. However an application called Vine was actually the first variant of this type which was shut down in 2013. From that time onwards there has been attempts to recreate it's success in the forms of applications called Dubsmash and Musical.ly but only Tik-Tok has come close to the influence of Vine.  Why are countries banning this applicati...

The Champagne Papi Empire.........

Image
Aubrey Graham or locally known as Drake. This is a name that even the people who haven't even heard a small snippet of his song know him and how great he is. Actually, if you haven't a drake song you'd literally have to be off the grid for years which means you're probably not going to be reading this either........ because his music is everywhere. And deservedly so I might add.   He has managed to majorly influence the music industry by publishing a whole ton of music which has consistently been chart toppers at the very least. His versatility which he showcases with his vocals as well as different flows of rap on beats that always become an instant classic is what makes sure that he stands out from his peers. He also manages to rack up millions of streams and a loooooott of awards. He has also paved a path for the musicians and artists to gain sponsorships from companies like Nike and Jordan.    He also does get his fair share of the criticism. Some saying his music b...
